Girls Day Out

On Sunday my sister and I decided to spend a girl's day out. Of course that meant the party would not be complete without ALL the girls being present so we packed up Rosie, Maria and Dottie into the car and headed out to Front Royal to do some pottery painting. The owner of the store loves dogs and lets us reserve her party room so that we can bring our pups with us. We bring doggy bowls, water, blankets, treats and anything else we think the dogs might need while we get our craft on. On this particular occasion our mission was to work on some Christmas presents.

For the last three years Joe and I have spent Christmas with his parents. This year will be the first time that they will not be with us for the holiday's, though they have confessed that what has them really sad is that they aren't going to be with the pups. Another thing you should know is that Joe's mom loves decorating her tree. She loves ornaments and all things Christmas oriented which is why I thought a perfect gift idea would be some doggy-themed ornaments for her tree. I was going to paint little portraits of each dog, but when I saw the size of the biscuit I knew that was not going to be easy and with only a few hours to work on them I chose another route. I decided I would write each dog's name on the ornament and paint the background in their signature color. Believe it or not this took me all four hours to get done. There is a lot of color layering that needs to be done if you don't want it to come out streaky when it's done. Here they are after I was done with the 5 millionth layer for each one.

Hopefully they will look super cute when they're done, which will be early this week, and I will ship them to Florida. They are going to be a little late, but they have another gift already on the way so it won't be too bad.

And here are pictures of the girls resting while we paint some pottery:
